Our Mission
WYS is committed to providing accessible and inclusive musical education and performance opportunities for young musicians in the heart of Westchester. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant community where students from all backgrounds can explore their musical talents and grow together. We aim to offer a convenient and supportive environment that welcomes children with a deep love of and commitment to music, regardless of their socioeconomic status or cultural heritage.
Through our dedication to artistic excellence, we strive to strengthen and support each student's love of music, foster personal growth, and create a lasting impact on the lives of our members and the broader community. By participating in an ensemble or performing group within our community, we believe that we not only bring music to the community but also enhance the sense of unity and belonging among its members, enriching the social fabric of our neighborhoods.
We recognize the value of community performances and community service in enhancing the experience for our musicians and the community. WYS affords students a rich community service opportunity offering a wide variety of opportunities to volunteer throughout the community. Additionally, we provide emerging professional musicians with opportunities to share their talents. Through our house concert series, we bring music directly into our community, offering both cultural enrichment to the community and financial support for young artists striving to make a living through their craft. These concerts serve the older population of Westchester, who may find it difficult to attend traditional concerts, by bringing high-quality music into their homes and ensuring they remain connected to the cultural vibrancy of our community.
